Material and Temperature Resistance

Typically made from materials such as clay, aluminum, or stainless steel, traditional liners are designed to handle high temperatures and the byproducts of combustion from wood-burning fireplaces or older heating systems.

Made from a thermoplastic polymer, polypropylene is specifically engineered to withstand higher temperatures (up to 230°F) and the acidic condensate produced by high-efficiency appliances. This makes it more suitable for modern heating systems compared to traditional materials, which can corrode or degrade over time.

Installation Process

The installation often involves inserting a flexible or rigid liner into the existing chimney flue. This process can be labor-intensive, requiring careful maneuvering to fit the liner through the chimney. The liner is then secured, often with insulation, to ensure it remains in place and functions efficiently.

The installation of polypropylene systems involves a series of gasketed joints that are easily assembled and fitted. These joints are designed to maintain integrity at higher temperatures, reducing the risk of leaks and ensuring a secure connection. The process is generally quicker and more efficient, as the lightweight and flexible nature of polypropylene pipes makes them easier to handle and maneuver.
